Changes to Michigan COVID-19 Restrictions That Start Today
Today, June 1st, 2021, Michigan will see eased COVID-19 restrictions.
Starting today, several big changes to the COVID-19 restrictions in Michigan will take place. Back on May 20th, Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced the updated plans.
What changes to the restrictions start today (June 1st?)
As of today:
- Most capacity limits for outdoor events and activities are ending allowing stadiums, entertainment venues, and events to operate with full capacity.
- Capacity restrictions for indoor and outdoor residential gatherings have been lifted.
- Indoor venues like funeral homes and restaurants can increase capacity to 50%.
- The 11 pm curfew for bars and restaurants has been lifted.
- The six people per table limit at bars and restaurants has been lifted, even though social distancing between tables is still recommended.
- Food and beverage samples are once again allowed in stores.

What restrictions still remain?
- Indoor venues like restaurants and banquet halls are limited to 50% capacity.
- Bars and restaurants must continue to collect COVID-19 contact information from patrons.
- Unvaccinated people should continue to wear masks at all indoor gatherings and crowded outdoor settings.
- Everyone should continue to wears a mask in crowded indoor areas like jails and airplanes.
- Any business or establishment can continue with more strict COVID-19 orders if they deem it necessary.
- Athletes between the ages of 12 and 19 must continue to take weekly COVID-`9 rapid antigen tests, including teams not affiliated with schools.
Beginning on July 1st, 2021, all broad epidemic orders will be lifted.
Just one more month and things should look and feel like the world we miss before the pandemic started.
