Charlevoix Kitchen Closes Early After Dealing With Rude and Cocky Tourists
After taking a beating all week from customers, one northern Michigan restaurant had enough and decided to shut down their kitchen early this past weekend.
Larah Moore is the manager of East Park Tavern in Charlevoix where the incident took place. She said normally during the Venetian Festival they have a lot of fun working...but not this year.
During one of their busiest nights of the year, Moore closed their kitchen early after she became fed up with arrogant and disrespectful customers. Basically, they had no empathy towards the workers that were short staffed.

Arrogant, rude, and cocky.
They were dealing with a bunch of out of town customers that were simply treating the staff like garbage. She said the customers were arrogant, rude, and cocky.
According to WDIV, she said that some of her employees were so stressed out that they were throwing up outside. You have to admit, that's pretty messed up. If I was in her position, I would have done the exact same thing.
Larah Moore posted this on Facebook:
I've worked in downtown Charlevoix most of my adult life during Venetian. It's usually great, busy, but fun and worthwhile.
I'm so incredibly disappointed and embarrassed by the Fudgies we have this year. My staff took a BEATING all week. Last night was our last straw. Too many rude comments. Too many arrogant individuals acting like they can throw money at us to get their way. Too many cocky jerks.
No one gets to treat my staff like trash. They are the absolute shining stars in my life and I love and appreciate the hell out of the few of them that I am lucky enough to have. If you push your servers, watch them start to push back. We are here to ensure great food, drinks and quality of your time spent with us. We are not here to be abused. We will not tolerate that anymore.
This kind of behavior is happening everywhere, not just in restaurants. I see it at the grocery store, gas stations, and department stores. It has to stop.
