Merciful Zeus, 'Community' may yet reach its "Six Seasons and a Movie" mantra after all. After NBC initially canceled the perpetually bubbled cult comedy, and even after Hulu reluctantly passed on an opportunity to save the series, Yahoo Screen stepped in at the last moment to reunite the Greendale Gang for 'Community' season 6. Streets ahead, y'all!

As announced by Yahoo, 'Community' will return for an additional 13 episodes to air at an undetermined point in the future on the online service. Given the last-minute nature of the deal (the actors' contracts were set to expire today, June 30), it remains to be seen exactly how negotiations with the cast will shake out, and when Yahoo might look to schedule its hard-won prize from Sony Pictures TV.

Says showrunner Dan Harmon on the monumental news:

I am very pleased that 'Community' will be returning for its predestined sixth season on Yahoo. I look forward to bringing our beloved NBC sitcom to a larger audience by moving it online. I vow to dominate our new competition. Rest easy, 'Big Bang Theory.' Look out, Bang Bus!

We'll have more on the shocking 'Community' season 6 renewal as it arrives, but in the meantime, what say you? Are you as excited as we are to learn that the Greendale Gang will live on? Will this mean the movie is all-but-inevitable? Pop-pop us in the comments with your reactions!
