Back to the Bricks isn't letting a pandemic stop them from giving back to the community.

Organizers hosted their first Road Rally last weekend and were able to raise much needed funds for the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan. Back to the Bricks, Shea Automotive and Halo Burger were on hand to present the Road Rally check for $5,229.45 to CEO Kara Ross with the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan. The organization said the check amounts to 31,377 meals.

The Road Rally, sponsored  by Shea Automotive Group in partnership with Halo Burger, was a 100 miles drive through some of  Mid-Michigan's most picturesque small towns and cities Registration fee for the event was $10 and that combined with sponsorship and cash donations made the large donation possible.  The event kicked off at Shea Automotive Group on Linden Rd. and had an incredible turnout for a first time event and sold out.  Nearly 400 vehicles participated.

Food Bank CEO Kara Ross stressed the importance of events like this and at the funds they raise. "This event with the road rally just brought all that together -- brought community helping neighbors and people really enjoying the day with their cars and their friends in a really great safe manner to also then raise money for neighbors who need help right now, for families and seniors and children that are struggling with hunger," Ross said.

Due to the current situations amid the COVID-19 outbreak, many families are in need. "There's just so many families that haven't needed help before and they haven't needed necessarily the local community pantry," Ross said. "We're seeing almost four times more people coming in getting help and that's what we're here for."

Back to the Bricks makes it their mission to support the community.  "We know the need is great, and in these unprecedented times we are in it takes a village. We were delighted with our partners and even more thrilled with the car lovers opening their wallets on Saturday, knowing that they were giving back. My heart was exploding with the generosity and kindness I observed when there has bee so much negativity", said Amber Taylor, Executive Director of Back to the Bricks.
