Grand Blanc Hits Pause on Road Construction for Back to the Bricks
I was creeping down Saginaw Street through the construction zone in Grand Blanc the other day, and all I could think was how much of a nightmare it was going to be for the Rolling Cruise during the annual Back to the Bricks event.
Well, good news. It turns out it's not going to be a nightmare at all.
If you’ve been stuck crawling through Saginaw Street lately thanks to road construction, here’s some good news: Grand Blanc is hitting pause on the current project that's been causing major back-ups on Saginaw Street.
According to ABC 12, the city announced it’ll reopen all lanes starting Wednesday, August 13, so the Back to the Bricks Rolling Cruise can roll through without any lane closures slowing things down. That means Wednesday and Thursday night’s classic car parade will have a clear shot from Grand Blanc Road to Case Avenue.
Right now, Saginaw Street is down to one lane each way while crews work on repaving, but city officials heard the concerns from residents and car lovers who didn’t want the cruise jammed up. Seriously, that would have been a total buzzkill for hundreds of classic cars trying to roll through downtown.
Once the chrome and muscle cars are done showing off, crews will jump right back in, with the whole project expected to wrap up in September.
Sure, this whole project is a major pain for drivers, and yeah, we all complain about the mess it makes. But if we don’t get these repairs done, those roads aren’t going to magically fix themselves anytime soon.
