Enough Already: Consumers Energy Wants More Money From Your Gas Bill
Here we go again. Seriously, again
Just three months after the last increase, Consumers Energy is asking for more.
Consumers Energy is asking for another gas rate hike, and at this point, it’s just exhausting. The company wants about 240 million dollars more, which would mean roughly an eight percent increase for residential customers.
Yes. Another one.
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel is stepping in and pushing back, asking the Michigan Public Service Commission to slow down and take a hard look before approving anything. And honestly, that feels necessary.

According to Fox 2 Detroit, this would be the fourth year in a row Consumers Energy has asked for more money. A 157.5 million dollar hike was approved just three months ago, and customers are still dealing with it.
And now they want more. Right in the dead of winter.
Nessel says this keeps happening. Consumers ask for more, and customers are expected to pick up the tab.

Consumers Energy says the increase is needed to keep gas service safe and reliable. The company also says Michigan rates are still lower than other states and the national average. That probably doesn’t make anyone feel better when they open their bill.
Now it’s back up for approval once again. For customers, it feels like the same story on repeat. Enough already.
