Popular Michigan-Based Pizza Chain Shuts Down Another Location
At this point, it almost doesn’t matter what’s on the menu: burgers, tacos, sandwiches, pizza. If it’s a sit-down restaurant, it feels like it’s just a matter of time before the “Closed” sign goes up for good.
Nobody wants to think negatively like this, but we keep seeing the same thing play out over and over again. A place opens with high hopes, maybe even builds a loyal following, and then bam, the lights are off and the signs are gone. There’s no way to sugarcoat it. It sucks.
The reasons are usually the same old story. Prices keep going up. They can’t find enough staff. Supply chain issues never really got sorted out. And then there’s the never-ending hangover from the pandemic that just won’t let go. But sometimes it’s as simple as an underperforming location.
What Popular Michigan-Based Pizza Chain is Shutting Down Another Location?
According to The Street, Buddy’s Pizza, a legendary Michigan pizza joint, is closing another one of its locations. Customers in Portage will have to find a new spot for their pizza since the location that opened in 2020 just shut down. Yeah, I guess when you open during the pandemic, you’re basically cursed right out of the gate.
This wasn’t the only Buddy’s location struggling in Michigan. The one in Delta Township on West Saginaw Highway shut down in 2022, just two years after it opened. Then the Walker spot closed in 2023, only a year after opening.
There are still 20 Buddy’s Pizza locations open across Michigan.
