Does Free Stuff Really Change Someone’s Mind About Getting Vaccinated?

From marijuana (pot for shots), to $5 coupons from Target - we have been offered a lot of freebies to persuade us to get vaccinated. Just today another incentive was offered to all Americans from the White House and Anheuser-Busch, 'Get a shot, and have a beer'.

According to CNN, if by July 4th, 70% of adults have at least one COVID-19 shot, free beer will be provided. That is one free beer per person in the form of a $5 virtual credit card. You didn't think Anheuser-Busch was actually going to hand deliver or mail you a beer did you?

I am not one to look a gift horse in the mouth - but really does one free beer, or a Kroger gift card really seal the deal for someone who has been on the fence about getting vaccinated? I think not.

Full disclosure I am vaccinated, I wanted to get vaccinated. That being said - I am not taking my 'I got vaccinated' card all over town trying to score free stuff. Not getting the coronavirus is all the prize I need.

If your mind is made up that you will not get vaccinated, I don't think a freebie is going to change it. If you are on the fence, maybe a gift card will be your deciding factor (but I highly doubt it).

My final thought is this - people are going to get the shot because they want to, not for a free hamburger or one beer. On the other hand, if the state of Michigan offered a fat cash payout like Ohio is doing with their 'Vax-a-Million' lottery, that may change some minds, what do you think?
