Planned Power Outage Scheduled for Parts of Mount Morris Tonight

If you live in parts of Mount Morris, don't be surprised if your lights and AC go out tonight. Consumers Energy has scheduled a planned power outage that will affect 1,379 customers.

The outage is expected to last up to eight hours.

Where Will the Planned Power Outage in Mount Morris Happen?

According to ABC12, the outage will affect customers in the area:

• North of West Coldwater Road
• South of Helen Street
• East of North Hennings Road
• West of Summit Street

When Will the Power in Mount Morris Go Out?

The planned outage is scheduled to begin tonight at 11 p.m. and could last until around 7 a.m. Friday.

Consumers says the work is being done overnight because that's when it will cause the least disruption. Losing your AC at midnight is definitely better than losing it at 2 in the afternoon.

Why Is Consumers Energy Shutting Off the Power in Mount Morris?

The work is meant to make the local power grid more reliable and hopefully cut down on unexpected outages in the future.

If you're in the affected area, it's probably a good idea to charge your phone before bed.
