Flint City Bucks Announce New Women’s Franchise Coming Summer ’22
Soccer in Flint is about to become an even bigger deal.
On Wednesday, January 5th, 2022, the Flint City Bucks announced some big news for Flint. The four-time national champs have acquired a women's franchise that will begin play at Atwood Stadium this summer. The Bucks have purchased Detroit's own Corktown AFC.
What will the new women's team be called?
The former Corktown AFC will be relocated to Flint and will be relaunched as Flint City AFC and the team will compete in the USL W League starting in the summer of 2022.
What is the USL W League?
The USL W League is a pre-professional women's soccer league. This league, which is set to kick off in May 2022, will help develop the next generation of women's soccer talent on and off the field. Elite youth players, collegiate players, aspiring professionals, and former professionals are all eligible to play in the USL W League.
What other teams in the area will be competing in the USL W League?
When the USL W League begins the season in May of 2022, you can expect to see Flint City AFC in action against several other clubs close to the Genesee County area. Those teams include:
- AFC Ann Arbor
- Detroit City FC
- United FC in Grand Rapids
- Indy Eleven
- Kings Hammer FC in Cincinnati
- and Louisville City
Will there be season tickets available for the upcoming season?
Yes. Flint City AFC is now accepting questionnaires and applications for season ticket holders for the 2022 season.
