Flint may not have ranked number one, but it feels pretty good just to make the list! Flint joins 5 other Michigan cities on the newly released "150 Best Places to Live in the U.S." ranking by U.S. News & World Report.

Let's face it, it is really huge to see Flint showcased as positive. People that don't live in the area, or don't have a chance to experience all the cool things Flint has to offer, think of the city as something to be feared or even forgotten. Thanks to U.S. News & World Report, Flint is getting some positive press and holding its own amongst some of the best cities in the country.

According to the website, the report was comprised of analyzing the 150 most populous metro areas to find the best places to live. In order to make the elusive list, a place had to have good value, be a desirable place to live, have a strong job market, and high quality of life. How Did Flint Rank on the Best Places to Live in the U.S. in 2022-2023 List?

There were 150 places making up the "Best" list. Flint found itself proudly poised as #131 right between Mobile, Alabama (#130), and Santa Rosa, California (#132). The report noted some of Flint's cultural highlights saying, 

"Flint is home to arts, festivals and outdoor pursuits. The Flint Institute of Arts, one of the largest art museums in the state, is home to a variety of artworks and artifacts from around the world. The Sloan Museum focuses on science and regional history, including displays focused on automobiles. Children will enjoy the Longway Planetarium and the Flint Children's Museum."

The 2020 County Health Rankings values were calculated using mortality counts from the 2016-2018 National Center for Health Statistics. The U.S. Census 2019 American Community Survey and America's Health Rankings Senior Report 2019 data were also used to provide demographics on the senior population of each state and the state's rank on senior health care, respectively.
