Star Line ferry is showing their appreciation for frontline workers and all they've done throughout the pandemic by offering free trips to Mackinac Island.

These trips to Mackinac Island will be free for frontline workers throughout the month of October. This includes physicians, physician assistants, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, certified nursing assistants, respiratory therapists and respiratory technicians who have provided direct care to COVID-19 patients, law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMTs and 911 dispatchers.

I can't think of anyone more deserving than the list of workers above. While a free ferry trip isn't much, at least it's something and I think it's the appreciation that really goes a long way. It's just Star Line's way of giving back.

Star Line Chief Executive Officer Jerry Fetty:

You know since we take people to Mackinac Island, we thought hey let’s give them a free ride and maybe they can get a break and getaway, because we see on the news that they’re going through quite a bit, they’re very busy. They have to put up with quite a bit of conflict and we thought you know let’s try to give them a break and help them out.

If you're a frontline worker, all you have to do is show your employee badge and professional credentials.

These tickets can't be purchased online or in advance. Qualified frontline workers must buy their tickets at the Star Line ticket office in either Mackinaw City or St. Ignace.

I think it's a really cool gesture and is sure to make a few people smile. Let's just hope frontline workers can get the time off to go.

The iconic (and at times silly) toys, technologies, and electronics have been usurped since their grand entrance, either by advances in technology or breakthroughs in common sense. See how many things on this list trigger childhood memories—and which ones were here and gone so fast you missed them entirely.
