The Grand Blanc Township Fire Department is taking an extra step to keep residents safe by offering free smoke alarm installation.

With a recent uptick of fatal fires in Michigan, the Grand Blanc Township Fire Department is taking in an extra step to try and keep the community safe. Many fatal fires lately have been in homes that did not have a working smoke alarm. In a step to try and prevent more fatal fires, the fire department will install smoke alarms for free for residents in need.

The smoke alarms have been supplied by the American Red Cross and the Grand Blanc Township Fire Department has asked residents that need them to contact the department. If you need a smoke alarm, you can call the department at 810-694-7211 for an appointment.

If you have a smoke alarm already installed in your home, this serves as a great reminder to check the batteries and make sure that they are working properly.
