The last thing you want to hear is that your favorite morning cereal, which you've been eating for years, could contain harmful pesticides—especially a breakfast cereal that claims to be healthy for you.

We're not necessarily saying that's the case, but a company that produces one of the most popular breakfast cereals on the market is currently facing a class-action lawsuit alleging that it contains a harmful pesticide.

According to TMZ, Steven Epstein claims that General Mills has been selling a popular oat-based cereal without clearly stating that it contains high levels of a pesticide called chlormequat chloride. Epstein says independent studies have confirmed the pesticide's presence.

Epstein's biggest issue is that it's not mentioned in the ingredients. advertising, or marketing. Can you imagine if they actually mentioned pesticides in the commercials? Yeah, I don't think that would go over well with shareholders or the public.

Isn't this the company that has claimed for years that Cheerios is a heart-healthy breakfast cereal? The thought of pesticides in Cheerios is a bit concerning, especially for those who have been eating it for decades.

The idea that your favorite foods contain dangerous pesticides, does seem to be a recurring topic lately, as we recently told you about popular candies that may be linked to cancer.

Also, in 2019, the Daily Mail published an article that talked about 21 cereals, snack bars, and granolas made by Cheerios, Nature Valley, and Fiber One that contained Glyphosate. Glyphosate is a chemical found in weedkiller that's linked to cancer cases in the U.S.
