Usually, this time of year, Michigan residents don't have to deal with an overwhelming number of construction projects and road closures due to the winter weather. However, with some warmer temps early this week, you can expect at least one project that'll cause some delays for commuters. Thankfully, the project won't last long.

According to the Michigan Department of Transportation, the upcoming project involves lighting improvements and guardrail repairs on the I-475 exit ramps to eastbound I-69 in Genesee County.

These updates are much needed and aim to enhance safety and visibility for drivers, with work scheduled to take place this week. The work is being done to fix freeway lighting that was knocked out during car accidents. The rescheduled ramp closures will take place this Wednesday, December 11.

The project is expected to start on Wednesday, December 11, at 8 a.m. and wrap up around 4:30 p.m.

Both the southbound and northbound I-475 ramps to eastbound I-69 will be shut down. Drivers will be detoured onto westbound I-69 at Exit 6, then to Hammerberg Road at Exit 135, and finally back onto eastbound I-69.

We are expecting snow on Wednesday with temps dropping to around 35 degrees. With less than an inch expected, the project is still expected to move forward as planned. Drivers should be prepared for potentially slick roads and minor delays due to both the weather and the detours.
