
2023 Hazardous Waste Recycling Days for Genesee County, Michigan
Spring cleaning is about to begin for many people in Michigan.
The weather in Michigan this week is looking amazing which has many people in the mood to do some spring cleaning. While some things are easy to clean up and get rid of, other things, like hazardous waste, are not. So what do you do with them?

The Genesee County Metropolitan Planning Commission has scheduled eight recycling days that you can take your hazardous waste for free disposal. Two days are set aside in the months of May, June, July, and August for these days, but you will have to make an appointment to drop your waste off.

When are these recycling days in Genesee County for 2023?
The GCMPC has designated the following dates to be recycling days this year (all of which fall on Tuesdays):
- May 9th and 23rd. Registration opens on April 25th.
- June 13th and 27th. Registration opens on May 30th.
- July 11th and 25th. Registration opens on June 27th.
- August 8th and 22nd. Registration opens on July 25th.

- Aerosols
- Automotive Fluids
- Batteries (household and auto)
- Biomedical Sharps (in rigid/sealed container)
- Corrosives (acids/bases)
- Electronics (all kinds)
- Fire Extinguishers
- Fluorescent Bulbs & Tubes
- Mercury
- Oil Based & Latex Paints/Solvents
- Pesticides & Herbicides
- Prescription Medication
- Propane Cylinders (up to 30 lbs. each)
- Reactives & Oxidizers
- Smoke Detectors
What items are NOT accepted on these recycling days?
- 55 Gallon Drums of Waste
- Agricultural Tires & Waste
- Ammunition
- Appliances
- Commercial Tires & Waste
- Compressed Gas Cylinders (other than propane)
- Construction Materials
- Explosives & Fireworks
- Garbage & Yard Waste
- Industrial Tires & Waste
- Paper for Shredding
- Radioactive Materials
- Tires
- Weapons
