How President Donald J. Trump Won the War on Christmas [VIDEO]
HE F**KING DIDN'T.
There is no War on Christmas. There has never been a War on Christmas in my 37 years on this planet. In fact, each year it seems more popular than the previous year. Not only does Trump frequently talk about how, under his leadership, "we're going to be saying Merry Christmas again" but also that he'll be bringing "Merry Christmas back to the White House." Here's an example of Trump stoking that fire in October.
At its core, the war on Christmas is ridiculous. The reason many businesses have shifted to the "Happy Holidays" approach in ad campaigns and such is because not everyone celebrates Christmas. Some people celebrate Hanukkah, some celebrate Kwanzaa, some celebrate Festivus... There are a few non-Christmas December holidays celebrated by people in America. Businesses like to be inclusive, so they just say "Happy Holidays" instead. Not a big deal.
No one has outlawed use of the term "Merry Christmas" or banned the celebration of Christmas in the United States. Just because a business is being smart and using an inclusive message, it doesn't mean you can't celebrate your holiday however you want. In fact, one could argue that saying Merry Christmas in commercials would be a f--- you to the communities that don't celebrate Christmas. Alienation is not a good business strategy, and Trump would know that if he were a good businessman. If he knew anything about war, he'd know this isn't a war either. Unfortunately, he doesn't know about war. He knows about "bone spurs."
Trump likes to make people think that freedoms are under siege when nothing could be further from the truth. Say what you will about him, but the man is great at misdirection. The war on Christmas is just another one of his fake crusades. He often co-opts the War on Christmas to help lend credence to one of his most infamous failed witch hunts -- proving Barack Obama is not an American. While he came up short on that, implying things like "Obama never said Merry Christmas" is one of the not-so-subtle ways he tries to keep an un-American cloud hanging over the former president's head.
His base eats that s--- up. Seriously, they love it. Despite the fact that it's all bulls---.
There is no war on Christmas and Trump didn't bring "Merry Christmas back to The White House." It never left...
