It’s All Pure Michigan on Upcoming Gordon Ramsay Show ‘Uncharted’

The episode of Ramsay's popular National Geographic show, Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted,  that was filmed in the Upper Peninsula is finally going to air. The episode, that was filmed last summer, called “Michigan’s Yooper Cuisine,” will feature Ramsay experiencing everything the UP has to offer thanks to guide Michigan chef James Rigato.

Rigato, who spent time showcasing his talents at some of Detroit’s finest restaurants, give Ramsay the full  411 on the Keweenaw Peninsula, and even faces off with  Ramsay at the end of the episode for a final cook-off at Presque Isle Park in Marquette.

Rigato, who is the owner of Mabel Gray in Hazel Park, Michigan, spends quite a bit of time in the UP and said Ramsay's show was a perfect fit northern Michigan. The show basically features Ramsay hitting the road and traveling all over the world. While on his journey he learns about the local culture and cuisine of each place he visits.

“I think for Nat Geo and a show where Gordon is kind of going off the grid, they need to feature the Keweenaw. So I was really adamant about that,” Rigato told a news outlet. “So we kind of get the best of both worlds because I know he spent some time in Munising. We obviously cooked in Presque Isle over there in Marquette and then we were up in the Keweenaw filming a bunch of it, too. So I feel like we got some of the best spots in the U.P. covered.”

Viewers who tune in will see Ramsay eat a pasty, build a fence for thimbleberry bushes with the Jam Pot monks, goes hunting for woodcock and even do some shipwreck diving.
