6 Michigan Students Hospitalized After Edibles Show Up in Classroom
This is one of those stories that just kind of stops you for a second because it just happened in Flint back in November, and now it’s happening again.
Detroit Students Hospitalized After Eating Edibles
A scare out of Detroit this time, where six students at Edison Elementary had to be taken to the hospital after eating marijuana-infused gummies in class. These kids are just 11 and 12 years old according to WWJ. As of now, school officials still don’t know exactly where the gummies came from. That part is still under investigation.

The good news is all of the students are expected to be okay. But still, that’s a phone call no parent ever wants to get.
Why Edibles Are Raising Concerns in Michigan Schools
And here’s the bigger issue they’re pointing out. Edibles don’t exactly look like anything dangerous. They look like candy or fruit snacks, gummies you’d toss in a lunchbox without thinking twice. And with marijuana being legal for adults in Michigan and pretty easy to find, especially around Metro Detroit, that’s why these kinds of situations are becoming more of a concern.

School officials are basically reminding parents, lock this stuff up. Don’t leave it out. And maybe just as important, have that conversation with your kids about not taking food from someone else at school, even if it looks harmless. Because as strange as this sounds, it’s not even the first time we’ve seen something like this.
Similar Incident Happened in Flint Just Months Ago
A few months back in Flint, there was a very similar situation at Richfield Public School Academy. Multiple students ended up at Hurley after eating gummies that another student had brought in. Same kind of scramble, same unanswered questions about what exactly was in them, and the same concern from parents seeing kids show up in the ER.

And that’s really what makes this one hit a little harder. It’s not just a one-off scare anymore, it’s becoming a pattern. Thankfully, in both cases, the kids were okay. But it’s a reminder that something meant for adults can turn into a real problem fast when it ends up in the wrong hands.
