After a summer of record-breaking heat, above-normal tornado activity and those stretches of thick Canadian wildfire smoke, I think a lot of us are ready for a change.

Personally, I love Michigan’s hot weather when it means beach days, camping and sitting outside until the sun goes down. But the brutal cold and snow that eventually show up in winter? Yeah, I could live without that.

Michigan Fall Weather Could Be Cooler Than Normal

That’s why fall and spring are my favorite seasons. For a few glorious months, Michigan’s weather seems to find that sweet spot between sweating and freezing.
And according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, this fall could be pretty close to perfect.

The forecast calls for September to be cooler than normal, with rainfall around the normal range. October temperatures are expected to be near average, while rainfall could be below normal. In other words, it looks like Mother Nature may be setting us up for some seriously good fall weather across Michigan.

Perfect Fall Weather For Mid-Michigan

Think Friday night football without roasting in the stands. Bonfires where you actually need a hoodie. Trips to the cider mill without sweating through your shirt. Apple orchards, corn mazes and everything else that makes fall in Michigan so much fun.

Basically, not too hot and not too cold. Just right. That sounds pretty good to me.
Of course, we’re talking about Michigan, where the weather can change its mind three times before lunch. So there’s certainly no guarantee that we won’t get a surprise heat wave, a soaking rainstorm or an early blast of winter.

Hopefully No Snow for Halloween in Mid-Michigan

But if this forecast holds, we could be looking at one of those fantastic Michigan falls that makes you forget winter is waiting around the corner. And hopefully, Halloween cooperates too. I’m perfectly happy with costumes, candy and chilly October air. I don't need kids trick-or-treating through six inches of snow.

So bring on the corn mazes, cider mills, apple orchards and Friday night lights. Mother Nature might be giving Mid-Michigan exactly the kind of fall we deserve.
