The historic home in the Palmer Woods neighborhood sold for just under $1 million earlier this month, while the pictures offer a peek into the past.

Rich With History

Let's be perfectly clear, it's fine to classify this home as a fixer-upper.

While there have been some renovations (like the absolutely beautiful kitchen), some rooms reflect the home's rich history - that's code for 'outdated.'

The spacious home has seven bedrooms and six bathrooms. It only appears that one of the bathrooms has been renovated in the last decade or so, while the rest seem to give off a '70s vibe. Make sure you check out the pink bathroom with the double sinks. (Not exactly what you think of when you hear 'double sinks' today.)

Built for Detroit Tigers Owner

According to the listing, the Briggs Mansion was designed by architect Clarence E. Day for Walter Briggs, who was the owner of the Detroit Tigers from 1919 to 1952.

The massive, 9,000 square-foot mansion was built in 1925 on nearly a full acre of land, a rarity in the prestigious Palmer Woods neighborhood.

It features well-manicured landscapes, ornate iron light fixtures, trellis-covered walkways, limestone brickwork, and marble patios off of the main living rooms.
