The official date of Cinco De Mayo is Thursday, May 5th. You can also continue your Cinco De Mayo celebration on Saturday, May 7th, at the American Legion Hall Post 16 in Lapeer. The American Legion Riders will be hosting a fundraiser for local veterans. Talk about a great time for a great cause.

The event includes authentic Mexican food, music, and a cash bar. What's not to love?

If you cannot stay to eat and enjoy the festivities, carry out will be available too. Shout out to Tina Flores and all of the folks at the American Legion Post 16 for continuing to do so much for our local veterans. As someone who comes from a military family, this is beyond appreciated. Both my late father and step-father served in Vietnam, I have nothing but the utmost respect and love for them both. If you are reading this and were also in the military, I thank you for your service and appreciate you too.
