Lapeer Coach Logs 60,000 Miles of Running Since 1991
If you live in Lapeer, there’s a familiar face you’ve probably seen running the streets early in the morning before the rest of the world wakes up. That would be Mr. Baginski, known to his students as Coach B. He’s been coaching middle school cross country and track and field in Lapeer for over ten years, and the guy just never seems to slow down...literally.
What a lot of people don’t know is that Coach B’s been tracking every single mile he’s run since 1991. He’s been running thousands of miles for the past 34 years through every kind of weather imaginable.
His high school coach once suggested he start logging his runs in a notebook, so he did, and he never stopped. All these years later, those miles have really added up.

According to a post last week on Lapeer Community Schools’ Facebook page, Coach B recently hit an incredible milestone with 60,000 miles logged. Sixty thousand. That’s like running around the planet more than twice. The team celebrated with him at practice, cheering on their coach, who’s been leading by example the entire time.

It’s not just about the running, though. It’s about showing up every day, putting in the work, and setting an example that sticks with his students long after they’ve graduated. It’s the discipline that impresses me the most. Coach B is a true inspiration.
