Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington said recently that the new album, which they are working on with producer Rick Rubin, would be a departure for the band. Is this cover of the runaway pop hit 'Rolling in the Deep' by Adele an indication of the band's new direction?

When it comes to the sound of Linkin Park, they have been all over the map stylistically of late. From the techno preach-rock drenched first single from 'A Thousand Suns'; 'The Catalyst', to their latest foray into uncharted territory with this cover of the chart-topping pop single.

Maybe we're being to harsh on Linkin Park by using the term "sellout". Does covering a weird song every now and then say anything about you as a musician? Not really. It just seems weird that they would make such a spectacle out of a seemingly innocent cover. If they did it at a show that's one thing, but this is an obviously set up filming/photo shoot of them covering this song. They clearly want this to be out there. So Linkin Park fans here you go; the band wants you to see this.

Could this be the beginning of a new era where LP does covers of Lady Gaga, J Biebs, Katy Perry, and performs regularly on shows like 'The Voice'? The truth is; this is probably just a cover, nothing more. The real question is; What do you think of this?
