Back on January 18, The Loft in downtown Flint closed its doors after 22 years of business. Since then, things have been pretty quiet in that space that has been a major part of the community for many years. That changes today, Friday, October 24 at 4 p.m., when Levels Sports Bar & Grill opens to the public.

Levels comes from Flint brothers Deonta and Montez Brown. They are turning the old Loft into a spot that mixes live sports, good food, and an easygoing, polished vibe. Picture plenty of screens, a full menu, and music you can talk over without shouting (which is sometimes hard to find these days).

Levels Will Enforce an Exclusive Age Requirement

This place is meant for a mature crowd. The policy is 30 and up for men and 25 and up for women. They want the place to feel relaxed but still have that touch of class. Boy, I like the sound of this.

According to MLive, Levels also plans a monthly VIP Lion’s Den Sports Legends Spotlight. The event will honor athletes and coaches who make an impact in the community, on the field and off it. It is a cool way to connect Flint’s sports history with what is happening right now downtown.

I’ll be honest, I still miss when it was The Backroom. We had lots of fun there back in the day, that’s for sure.

Seeing a longtime favorite close is always a little sad, but it’s nice to see something new filling the space. The Loft had a solid run, and now Levels is stepping in to keep the good times rolling. Looks like downtown Flint’s getting a fresh new spot to watch the game, grab a drink, and just hang out.
