Marlette Couple Killed on Motorcycle in Lapeer County
A couple from Marlette was killed over the weekend after they were struck by a vehicle while out on a motorcycle ride in Lapeer County.
According to WNEM, A 2005 GMC Envoy was travelling north on N. Lapeer Road when it crossed the center line into the southbound lane and crashed head-on with a 2012 Harley Davidson.
The couple that was on the bike was 53-year-old Brian Stamp, and his girlfriend, 51-year-old Rhonda McHaffy. Unfortunately, they were dead at the scene.
A 45-year-old man from North Branch was the driver of the Envoy and was taken to McLaren in Lapeer with non-life threatening injuries.
WNEM also reports that a toxicology report is pending to determine if the driver of the Envoy was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
I guarantee if the driver was sober, the accident happened because he was distracted by his phone. It's insane how many drivers are constantly looking down at there phone while behind the wheel. The other day I was sitting at a light in Grand Blanc and I counted six drivers on their phones while driving through the light. Pretty scary, right?
