On Sunday, Bay City-based news station WNEM (Gray Television) shared a story on their Facebook page from sister station WOIO about a boxer named Greta, who had to be euthanized due to seizures.

The dog's owner, Ted DeSalvo, believes the popular heartworm, flea and tick medication Simperica Trio, often prescribed by vets, was responsible.

She was murdered in my view. She was murdered by this product

DeSalvo told WOIO.

DeSalvo stated that his vet did not warn him about this potential side effect. However, the Simperica Trio box reads:

Use with caution in dogs with a history of seizures or neurologic disorders

DeSalvo claims his boxer showed no signs of neurological disorders before taking the medication.

The widespread use of this medication has stirred concern among Michigan pet owners, as reflected in the comments section. Many owners shared similar stories about their pets:

This stuff is terrible, it killed my 2 rotties, I will NEVER give my babies that poison or anything like it.. we treat our yard not our animals!

one Facebook user wrote.

Others reported issues with competing products:

My dog had a seizure and only put it in his mouth and spit it out. He didn't even bite it. It was NexGard.

It's important to note that many users also commented that their dogs are on Simperica Trio without any issues.

As always, it's crucial to discuss any concerns about your pet's health with a trusted veterinarian.
