Every vehicle has its quirks, but there’s one feature on a lot of Michigan cars that we can probably all agree is the worst. Heck, it might even be safe to say it’s the most hated feature on the road today.

No, we're not talking about those beeping seatbelt reminders, loud turn signals, endless auto-brake warnings, or even the dreaded backup sensors. While we can agree that those are all pretty annoying, there’s one that's even worse than any of those.

The feature we’re talking about is one that really started to become standard in many vehicles in the mid-2010s...the automatic start-stop system. Technically, it's called Automatic engine shut down/start up (AESS).

They had good intentions with it, as it was designed to improve fuel efficiency by shutting off the engine when you're idling, and was also supposed to help the environment. But, of course, it didn’t take long for drivers to start complaining. I'm one of those drivers, as the feature drives me nuts.

For now, comments are still awaited from car brands, environmental groups, and industry folks on what removing the auto-stop feature from cars will really mean.

Some seem pretty confident that the feature’s on its way out...and honestly, we’re hoping they’re right.

12 Animals You Must Report If You Hit Them in Michigan

Ever hit an animal while driving in Michigan? Well, it turns out some of them need to be reported. We'll break down the animals you have to call in if you hit them. It’s not just about doing the right thing; it’s also about avoiding any legal issues.

So, who do you call? If you hit one of these animals, you’ll want to contact the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) or local law enforcement. If it’s an actual emergency, call 911; otherwise, just dial the non-emergency number. They’ll handle the situation and make sure everything's squared away. Just don’t forget to report it.
