Why Are Gas Stations Running Out of Fuel in Michigan?
Residents in one Michigan city are scrambling to find fuel, as many of the gas stations are either running low or completely out.
Imagine you're out and about one day, and all of a sudden your low fuel light comes on. Thankfully, there's a gas station nearby, but when you pull in, you realize the pumps are completely dry. Now what? Well, if you live in Sault Ste. Marie, you might be screwed.
According to Up North Live, fuel is limited at local gas stations, and some have run out completely. So, what's the deal? Why is this happening?
It probably won't come as a surprise that after the brutal ice storm that swept through Northern Michigan on Sunday night, from Grayling to the Upper Peninsula, the Mackinac Bridge ended up completely covered in ice.

The Mackinac Bridge, which rarely shuts down completely, was closed on Monday around 2 p.m. for several hours due to huge chunks of ice falling from the pillars and cables. It reopened for a while but was shut down again this morning for the same reason.
Due to the bridge closure, fuel providers were unable to make their deliveries, leaving many gas stations in Sault Ste. Marie either running low or completely out of fuel.
MSP personnel and local officials are teaming up with fuel providers to speed up deliveries and get things back to normal as soon as possible.
