Michigan Moves to Ban Kratom, Could Soon Disappear From Stores
This is something you might start seeing less of real soon.
Michigan lawmakers just voted to move forward with a full-blown ban on kratom. According to ABC 12, the House passed a bill that would make it illegal to sell it, buy it, or even grow it anywhere in the state.
If this thing goes all the way through, kratom would basically disappear from shelves overnight, which is kind of wild considering it’s been around (MI) for roughly a decade.

What Is Kratom and Why Michigan Wants It Banned
Right now, you can find it all over the place. Gas stations, vape shops, party stores…it's everywhere. A lot of people use it for pain, anxiety, or even to help with opioid withdrawal.
Of course, it’s not all good.
Health officials say kratom can act a lot like an opioid, especially in higher doses. There have also been reports of serious side effects and even deaths tied to it, which is why there’s been a push to crack down.
People pushing for the ban say it’s way too easy for kids to get their hands on this stuff, and a lot of parents don’t even realize it’s being sold right under their noses.
What Happens Next With Michigan’s Kratom Ban
Now, this isn’t a done deal yet.

The bill still has to make it through the Michigan Senate, and then it would land on Governor Whitmer’s desk. So there’s still a chance it could get stopped.
But if it doesn’t, this could be a pretty big change for a product that’s been available for many years.
