These Michigan Roads Are the Worst for Speeding Tickets
Getting a speeding ticket is the absolute worst. You glance in your rearview mirror, see those red and blue lights flashing, and your heart immediately sinks. You already know what’s coming next: embarrassment, a fine, points on your license, and probably a bump in your insurance rates.
It doesn’t matter if you’re running late for work, heading up north for the weekend, or just cruising with the windows down (one of my favorite things)—speeding can sneak up on you. You might be doing the speed limit one minute, glance down a minute later, and suddenly you're going 10 or 15 over the speed limit without even realizing it. That's when they've got you!
Unfortunately, there are plenty of roads in Michigan where that little slip-up is all it takes to get nailed...because cops are watching.
Common Speed Traps in Michigan
Some stretches of Michigan roads are notorious for speed traps. Others have speed limits that drop without much warning, catching drivers off guard. Either way, police are known to hand out a lot of tickets in these areas. And yeah, in most cases, the driver is at fault. I mean, technically, they were speeding.
Is it because there’s a heavier police presence in these specific areas, or is it because people are more likely to speed there? It’s probably a combination of both.
I hate to throw this out into the universe and jinx myself, but I haven’t gotten a speeding ticket since 1997. It’s probably because I now drive like a little old lady.
