A Shorter Workweek for Michigan Workers: Possibility or Pipe Dream?
It seems like we've been seeing a lot of news articles lately talking about Michigan workers moving to a four-day workweek. Is this something that could happen, or is it just a bunch of talk and wishful thinking?
A five-day eight-hour full-time work schedule has been the standard in Michigan for decades. Sure, some people have different schedules, but the traditional workweek remains the norm for most workers in the state.
There have been rumblings about more and more companies talking about moving to either a 32-hour work week or having workers do four 10-hour shifts, Monday through Thursday. Yes, some companies are already doing this. In fact, my wife works four 10-hour shifts and then enjoys having a three-day weekend (I'm so jealous).
