Walk Through 200,000 Lights Suspended Above a Michigan Mountain

I have wanted to walk across SkyBridge ever since it opened in 2022 at Boyne Mountain. It looked awesome when it first opened, but seeing it covered in more than 200,000 lights for the holidays is a game-changer. It looks like a glowing tunnel hanging over the mountain, and honestly, it might be one of the coolest winter things you can do in Michigan.

To get to it, you hop on a chairlift and ride up the mountain like you are going skiing. At the top, you step onto the bridge, and suddenly you are looking over Boyne Valley with nothing but open air below you. It sounds a little freaky (to me), but at night, you can't even see the ground, which somehow makes it way easier to walk across. At least I'm assuming.

SkyBridge Lights in the Sky

In December, they crank it up even more. The bridge is wrapped in more than 200,000 holiday lights for their Lights in the Sky event, and it feels like you are walking through a glowing tunnel floating over the mountain.

Once you make it across, you’re not forced to immediately head back down. There’s a food truck, drinks, and a bonfire area where you can warm up and hang out.

When You Can Go on SkyBridge and What It Costs

Tickets can be bought online or at the mountain, and resort guests get a discount. A regular ticket is $25, and it lets you ride the lift and walk the bridge as much as you want that afternoon and evening.

SkyBridge is open Wednesday through Sunday until mid-December, then it switches to daily hours through early January with a few dates in mid-January. Go during the day for the views and come back at night for the lights. Just remember it is Michigan winter, so the weather could shut it down. A snowy night might make it look super cool, though.
