Michigan Woman Wins $1K a Day for Life
I'm really sick and tired of writing and reading about people winning a buttload of money from the Michigan Lottery because none of those people is me. I play and play multiple games every week...and nothing.
All joking aside, I think it's so freaking that so many Michiganders have been winning so much money. We've had so many stories about people winning in the past six months.
48-year-old Kristen Kaminski of Grand Rapids just won the Michigan Lottery's Lucky For Life (The Game of a Lifetime) game where the winner walks away with $1,000 a day for life. Can you imagine? According to MLive, she elected to receive her prize as a one-time lump-sum payment of $5.75 million, rather than the annuity for a minimum of 20 years or the rest of her life, whichever is greater. That's exactly what I would have done, give me all that loot all at once.
Kaminski was obviously very surprised when she found out she won
I woke up in the middle of the night and checked my email. The message was different than the normal one when you win a few bucks. I woke my husband up, and he thought I was dreaming. All he could say was: ‘That’s nice, dear.’ And then he rolled over. I finally got him up and able to look at my phone and he was just as stunned as I was!
Kaminski bought her ticket on the Michigan Lottery website. I love hearing that because I always play online and wondered if people actually won that way...I guess they do.
What will they do with the money?
We’ve got some things to pay off, like our house, and we want to set up college funds for our kids. Other than that, my new hobby will be not spending this money so it’s there for us when we retire.
When they retire? I can't believe they're going to keep working. With that kind of money, they could retire now and live comfortably for the rest of their lives.
