Horror Movie Filmed in Flint Will Make Big Premiere at Capitol Theatre

Hollywood is coming to Flint this summer! The horror movie, Half Dead Fred, by filmmaker Bron Theron, will be making its big public premiere at downtown's historic Capitol Theatre this weekend.

The movie Half Dead Fred, shot almost entirely in Flint last year, tells the story of an alcoholic who was in a car crash, which killed his son. Since the accident, he becomes a medium detective, able to talk to the dead. The brainchild of writer and director Bron Theron is described as a thriller/horror flick. The movie is set to star Corin Nemec as "Freddy Nash". Fans will remember Nemec from Stargate SG-1, Parker Lewis Can't Lose, and several made for television films.

We had a chance to chat with Theron just as filming began. He was no stranger to Flint and has worked as a muralist for the Flint Public Art Project since 2017, so choosing the city to film was easy. His close connection with his friend Executive Director of the Flint Public Art Project Joe Schipani introduced him to the incredible architecture throughout the city which served as inspiration for the film.

Theron is keeping a promise to bring the film to Flint for the first public premiere. The big night will take place on August 7, 2022, at the Capitol Theatre at 7:00 pm. Tickets are currently on sale at the Capitol Theatre box office and online. 

The premiere will welcome back stars Corin Nemec and Jordan C. Michael as well as local actors Seth Hart, Zachery Wood, Amy Diaz, Anthony Allen, Joe Schipani, and  Michael Evans Kelley.

Get ready Flint...it's going to be a Hollywood-style kinda night in the city.
