The holiday's are not the most wonderful time for a lot of people, this year especially thanks to the coronavirus. Money is tight, and if you are not working - buying gifts for your kids may not be an option.
You are not alone. A lot of families are struggling, but there is no reason your children have to go without presents this Christmas. Now until Friday, October 23rd, you can register for a helping hand from Catholic Charities. Registration is taking place this week at the North End Soup Kitchen, from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM daily. If you would like to register, please bring the following items,
- Your Michigan ID or Driver's License
- Each child's Birth Certificate or DHS Verification Form
Any children you are requesting help for, must be 17 years of age, or younger. Gifts will be available for pick-up at the North End Soup Kitchen on the following days,
- Friday, December 18th, between 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
- Saturday, December 19th, between, 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
I can't imagine having to tell a child that Santa Claus is not coming to their house. How is a kid supposed to understand that? Why would Santa Claus skip them? I am thankful that Catholic Charities are able to help these families in need.
The North End Soup Kitchen is located at 735 East Stewart Avenue in Flint. For additional information, call (810) 785-6911.
