‘No Megasite’ Signs Popping Up All Over Swartz Creek – What Do They Mean?
Swartz Creek, MI residents are placing these signs in their yards, but what do they mean?

Over the last few weeks, signs have been popping up in the yards of Swartz Creek, Michigan residents. The signs simply say "NO MEGASITE." What does that mean? What megasite are they referring to?
The mega site that is being referred to is the Advanced Manufacturing District of Genesee County. This sight is being planned for several uses including advanced manufacturing, engineering, robotics, research and development, and more.
Over the weekend, I had to make several trips through the Swartz Creek area. While driving along Linden Road (which is a regular occurrence for me) I came across a lot of signs along the way that said "NO MEGASITE." I was obviously curious as to what they meant so I decided to do a bit of digging.
Keep in mind that I do not have an in-depth understanding of this whole situation as there is a lot of info out there. However, according to the Flint & Genesee Economic Alliance, Mundy Township is in a position to be home to a high-tech advanced manufacturer.
As with any major project like this, there are many pros and cons. This plant would mean a lot of money and thousands of jobs in the future for Genesee County residents. However, on the flip side, there are several major subdivisions, manufactured home communities, childcare centers, and an elementary school near the proposed area. I assume that is why some residents have the signs out speaking against it.
Again, I am not a scholar on this topic, nor am I taking sides. I just saw all of the signs and was sure that I wasn't the only one wondering what the story was.
