The PGA Tour's U.S. Open will return to Oakland Hills in 2034 and 2051.

Just last month, the legendary Oakland Hills Country Club erupted into a massive blaze that destroyed the clubhouse. Unfortunately, a lot of irreplaceable memorabilia from previous tournaments and many other things were lost in the fire.

Oakland Hills Country Club played host to many tournaments in its' history including:

  • 17 Major Championships (including six U.S. Opens)
  • Two U.S. Senior Opens
  • U.S. Women's Amateur
  • Two U.S. Men's Amateurs
  • The Western Open
  • The Carling World Open
  • The 35th Ryder Cup in 2004
  • and three PGA Championships including the 90th in 2008.

With all that history lost to the fire, the country club will now have the chance to collect new memories in the years to come. Today, the United States Golf Association announced that Oakland Hills Country Club will play host to two U.S. Opens and four other USGA events in the years to come.

The USGA selected Oakland Hills Country Club as the host site for the U.S. Open Championships in 2034 and 2051. Along with these two championship tournaments, Oakland Hills will also host the 2024 U.S. Junior Amateur, 2029 U.S. Women's Amateur, 2038 U.S. Girls' Junior, and 2047 U.S. Amateur tournaments. The USGA also announced in January that Oakland Hills will host the U.S. Women's Opens in 2031 and 2042.

All of the tournaments will take place on Oakland Hills' South Course, which is also known as "The Monster."

Despite having the fire last month, it is great to see that Oakland Hills still has a future and will continue to bring professional golf to Michigan.
