Is Ollie’s Moving Into the Old Kmart Building in Clio?

I'll be honest, I had never even heard of Ollie's Bargain Outlet until I started seeing rumors circulating on social media that the discount retailer could be moving into the former Kmart building in Clio.

If that's true, it wouldn't be taking over the entire building. Family Farm & Home already occupies part of the former Kmart, so Ollie's would likely move into the remaining vacant space.

Why People Think Ollie's Is Coming To Clio

The conversation started in the Clio Nosey Neighbors Facebook group when someone claimed Ollie's was headed to the old Kmart building.

Naturally, the comments lit up. Some people were excited to see something finally move into the long-vacant building, while others were hoping for stores like Target, Hobby Lobby, TJ Maxx, or Harbor Freight. You can never make everyone happy.

One comment really caught my eye, though. When someone asked if the rumor had been confirmed, another commenter said the Clio Township Supervisor announced it at a Chamber of Commerce meeting. That's oddly specific.

I haven't found an official announcement from Ollie's, but the person who mentioned it sounded pretty confident that it was legit.

If you're not familiar with Ollie's, it's a discount retailer that sells everything from books and tools to snacks, cleaning supplies, toys, and home goods.

There are already locations in Flint, Caro, Saginaw, and Bay City. Believe it or not, there's one right here in Flint, and I somehow made it this far without ever hearing of it.

Whether you're excited about Ollie's or not, I think most people can agree it would be nice to see the remaining vacant portion of the former Kmart building put to use.
