The Owosso Public School system received a huge donation this week. The Cook Family Foundation has donated $1.1 million to upgrade their performing arts facilities.

Currently, the performing arts programs in the Owosso school system are just clubs. With the help of this donation, they will be able to add the performing arts to their curriculum.

Back in 2017, voters passed a huge bond for the school. It back the school's largest bond at over $45 million. Some of the bond money is being set aside to build a new performing arts center for the school. The Cook Family Foundation was not only happy to see the community support, they decided to pitch in to make sure the performing arts center had a full theater for the kids to use.

With all the money donated the plans are in the early stages. Superintendent Andrea Tuttle is hoping that the building will be finished and ready for use by the fall of 2020.
