I am always bummed to see a local business have to close its doors. In this instance, two Lapeer County businesses will be closing at the end of the month.

The Polar Palace and Louie's Sports Tavern will be closing their doors on April 28th. Reports indicate, one of the reasons for closing the arena is the lack of hockey players. According to co-owner, Rick Burrough he and his partner Gary Adams, have invested a lot of their own money to keep the businesses afloat, and that is no longer sustainable.

There have been many great events held in the arena including the annual 'Guns N' Hoses' charity hockey game. I certainly thank Rick and Gary for being so gracious as to house the event for all these years and for all they have done for the community.

There is still a few days for you to stop in before the doors are closed. I recommend a Bloody Mary. Here is to wishing everyone involved the best.
