More than 40 senior citizens are thankfully alive, but for now are homeless due to a fire in their community.

Many of the senior residents of West Manor Senior Apartments have been staying in nearby hotels, but the funds are starting to run out. According to FOX 2 Detroit, the fire was July 1st, and although many organizations and volunteers have stepped in to help, it will still be at least a couple weeks before there's even a chance of getting these people back in a home. Only one of the residents had renters insurance, so in addition to funds, many items will be needed once they are able to return to a place they can call home. Donations of many kinds are more than welcome, and you can get details on how you can help here.
