If you drive anywhere near I-696 and I-75 in Oakland County, you're not going to want to hear this. That mess is about to ramp back up again.

Construction is set to fire back up in early March, and several ramps are about to become a daily headache.

Which I-696 and I-75 Ramps Are Closing in March?

According to Fox 2 Detroit, several major ramps at the I-696 and I-75 interchange are set to close starting in March, with some closures lasting into early summer.

That includes the westbound I-696 ramps to both northbound and southbound I-75. The northbound I-75 ramp to westbound I-696 is also shutting down.

Detours will kick drivers over to Van Dyke, 8 Mile Road, and the Lodge.

What Additional Ramp Closures Start in April?

In early April, another big closure gets added to the mix. Because of course it does.

The southbound I-75 ramp to westbound I-696 will also close, with detours similar to the others. MDOT still hasn’t given exact reopen dates, just a vague “early summer.”

Is Eastbound I-696 Still Closed?

Of course it is, and it's still just as annoying.

Eastbound I-696 remains fully closed from the Lodge Freeway to I-75 and will stay that way through all of 2026.

Right now, westbound I-696 traffic is already shifted onto the rebuilt eastbound side near I-75, which explains why everything feels extra cramped.

I hope you were taking notes, because a lot is going on there.
