Watch Rob Zombie + Marilyn Manson Debut Beatles ‘Helter Skelter’ Cover Live
The same day Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson debuted their fiendish cover of the Beatles’ “Helter Skelter,” they shared the stage in Detroit to give the iconic track its first performance by the Twins of Evil.
Fans of both artists freaked out when Manson and Zombie dropped the surprise cover yesterday (July 11). It’s no coincidence that the track premiered the same day as the horror-infused duo began their "Twins of Evil II" tour, but it’s certainly interesting that they’d perform “Helter Skelter” at the same venue where Zombie and Manson ignited their feud onstage in 2012.
With images of Charles Manson and the Manson Family appearing behind them, Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson ripped into the iconic Beatles tune, while John 5 added his own stylish flair to its guitar parts. The collaboration closed out Rob Zombie’s main set with a damn bang, with the consummate performer finishing the night with an encore of “Dragula.”
“If [Manson] is going to come on and do a song [with me] I want it to be together. Having a song we recorded together, and then we do that, is cool. I’m not into just jamming and then it’s all sloppy and loose, I want it to be together,” Zombie recently told Loudwire. “Now that we have the song together that’s really cool and we can do that live, that’s gonna kick ass. Now people can look forward to it, because they’ll have heard the song and they’ll go, ‘Hopefully they’ll do ‘Helter Skelter’ tonight.’ I don’t know if we’ll do it every night, but we might.”
