It's so disappointing to hear of another store closing its doors in Flint. Back in March, we heard Toys "R" Us across from the Genesee Valley Mall was closing and now it looks like Sears which is located in the mall will be doing the same.

According to ABC12, Sears Holdings Corp. announced the Flint Township store is among 72 Sears and Kmart stores that will close soon. All of the affected stores will close sometime in September. The exact closing date is unclear at the moment.

I just hate the thought of local people losing their jobs and struggling to find new work. I also hate the thought of another empty building in Flint. I really hope they find something to put in its place but I'm sure that will be a challenge as more and more stores close in the Genesee Valley Mall.

Personally, I rarely shopped at Sears but I know a lot of people that prefer the store over others. If you're that dedicated and committed to Sears, you'll have to drive to the Saginaw location which will remain open, at least for now.

Other Michigan Sears locations closing include Dearborn, Sterling Heights, and Traverse City.
