Another Grand Blanc Restaurant Calls It Quits After 26 Years
Another longtime Grand Blanc area restaurant is preparing to shut its doors after more than two decades in business.
What makes this one especially tough is that it’s a family-owned spot people have been going to for years. Myself included. I can’t even tell you how many mornings I’ve spent there crushing one of their breakfast omelets over the years.
Which Grand Blanc Restaurant Is Closing?
That restaurant is Sophia’s Kitchen, and the family announced it will officially close this month after 26 years in business. Honestly, this one straight up sucks.

According to a heartfelt message shared online, the owner’s father is preparing to retire and focus on his health. You can tell from the post that this wasn’t an easy decision. This place clearly meant a lot to the family and the community.
Sophia’s Kitchen Was Part of Grand Blanc Family Traditions
That line right there probably explains why so many people are emotional about this closing.
Some restaurants are just places to eat. Others become part of people’s routines and family traditions over the years. Sophia’s Kitchen was one of those places for a lot of people around Grand Blanc.
The family talked about everything from first day of school lunches to graduation celebrations and countless other moments shared inside the restaurant over the last 26 years.
When is Sophia’s Kitchen in Grand Blanc Closing?
Sophia’s Kitchen will officially close on Saturday, May 17.
I’ve lived in Grand Blanc for more than 20 years, and out of the countless times I’ve gone to Sophia’s, I honestly don’t think I ever had lunch or dinner there. It was always breakfast. I just loved it.
Thank you to the entire staff at Sophia’s Kitchen for the wonderful service and tasty meals over the years. You guys will definitely be missed.
