Spirit Airlines Employee Hospitalized After Being Assaulted at Detroit Airport
A Spirit Airlines employee was hospitalized this past Sunday after being attacked by three passengers prior to boarding their flight.
According to Fox 2, at the time of boarding, agents asked a group of travelers to verify their carry-on bags were the right size for the plane. A statement from Spirit says that the passengers became combative at that request.
From what I understand the agents tried to keep the passengers calm and defuse the situation but then all hell broke loose.
A passenger waiting for her flight to Georgia recorded the video and posted it on her Instagram page. She said she couldn't believe what she was seeing when the chaos unfolded.
I'm sure arguments are something that Spirit Airline employees face all the time but full-blown brawls are entirely different.
Two of the three involved were arrested with the other one being only cited and released. The two were banned from Spirit Airlines from future flights.
It's so crazy how some people have such short fuses and can go ballistic just like that. I mean, no one likes the idea of paying extra if your carry-on is too big but most people are aware of Spirit's regulations prior to flying.
This violent behavior is completely unacceptable and has absolutely no place in airports or any other place of business. We will not tolerate abusive behavior of any kind and these passengers will be banned from any future travel with Spirit. Further questions about this incident should be referred to law enforcement.
