The last time WWE brought SummerSlam to Detroit was in 1993. SummerSlam '93 saw just shy of 24,000 people at The Palace of Auburn Hills. The main event was Lex Luger vs. Yokozuna, where Yokozuna lost by count out but retained the title. Other matches included Razor Ramon vs. Ted DiBiase, Shawn Michaels vs. Mr. Perfect, and more.
I am super excited that SummerSlam will be in Detroit this year. It takes me back to my childhood. I remember going to a big WWE pay-per-view when I was a kid at the Joe Louis Arena. Sadly I don't remember much from that show being so young but I do know that I had a blast. I'm pretty sure it was Survivor Series 1999, but I can be sure.
