Some thieves in Flint tried to rob a Family Dollar store on Franklin Avenue sometime Monday night. The store manager reported the crime after arriving at work Tuesday morning to find no power in the building.

The thieves first tried to get into the building in three different areas. After those failed attempts, they ended up stealing the power meter on the building. Sadly, that is was caused the most damage. With the power cut off to the building, all the coolers in the store felt the effects. Now, the store could be out thousands of dollars in spoiled and rotten products.

Fortunately, Consumers Energy was able to restore power to the building and it is open once again. Unfortunately, if you shop at this store, you will not be able to purchase frozen or refrigerated foods at this time. It will probably be another week before the next delivery.
