Many Consumers Energy customers will be out of power for a brief time coming up in October.

If you have driven down Dort Highway between Hill Road and Grand Blanc Road recently, you have seen crews working on the power lines along that stretch. Coming up on Saturday, October 3rd, Consumers will be shutting down the power to reroute electric transmission lines that serve parts of Genesee County.

The planned outage will end up affecting nearly 4,500 Consumers Energy customers in Grand Blanc. Consumers Energy is planning on shutting off the power at midnight on October 3rd and the project should last roughly six hours. The areas that are likely to lose power in this outage are listed below.

  • Grand Blanc Road between Dort Highway and Jennings Road.
  • Fenton Road between Reid Road to just south of Baldwin Road.
  • Cook Road between Linden Road to Fenton Road.
  • Torrey Road between Baldwin Road to just south of Reid Road.

If for some reason the project can't be completed, the scheduled backup date is Sunday, October 4th.

I am right on the edge of those borders so I hope I don't lose power. However, I am glad that they are almost done with this project. It has caused a lot of congestion here and there as they have been working on it. Also, I'm pretty sure that is the reason that the ramps to I-75 are closed down right now. I never realized how often I used that ramp until it was shutdown.
